Their start wasn't that great. Marmalade and her friends made fun of Nick back in the sixth grade. They thought he was a loser and had no life. Nick knew that she was a rotten and evil person, so he didn't want to fight back to make things worse. Marmalade especially had a problem with this, being how she was a victim of his horribleness. However, he gave a sincere apology and then told him that he will forever be a loser, no matter how popular he will become. However, she felt bad and immediately took it back, saying that they both had it rough in the past, inviting him into the group.
